Minnie realises Ena is confused and the police are called in and charge Ena with shoplifting. Elsie's endowment policy expires and she has £50. She decides to decorate. Ena makes the police search the Vestry and No.5 to prove she's not a thief. Ken and Elsie try to help Ena but she feels she's being patronised. She refuses a solicitor and plans to plead not guilty.
