Barnabas finds himself locked in his coffin. In 1897 gypsies (Sandor and Magda) live in the Old House. Quentin returns to Collinwood after some time away. Edith Collins, head of the family is expected to die soon, and is expected to tell the family secret to the next in line, Edward Collins. Magda sees the mausoleum in her crystal ball and sends Sandor to find jewels; however he finds and releases Barnabas.

Barnabas commands Sandor to help him. Judith tries to bribe Quentin to get him to leave Collinwood, however he plans to stay. Barnabas meets Magda, Sandor’s wife, she discovers he is a vampire.

Barnabas tells Magda that he will give her some of the family jewels in return for protection during the day. Magda warns Judith and Quentin of a stranger that would bring them trouble. Barnabas shows up at Collinwood and introduces himself as a cousin from England. Suspicious of Barnabas’ motives, Quentin threatens to kill him unless he gets some answers.

Barnabas asks for permission to live in the Old House. Barnabas finds that Beth is hiding something when she denies the existence of a third child at Collinwood. Barnabas attacks a woman in the village (Sophie Baker). Quentin threatens Edith to make her tell him the family secret.

Judith stops Quentin from harassing Edith. Edward Collins returns to Collinsport with a new governess, Rachel Drummond, for the children. Barnabas meets with Edith Collins; she is shocked and declares that he is the secret. Edward tries to get Edith to tell him the secret.

Edith is unable to tell Edward the secret. Barnabas meets Carl Collins, who is a practical joker. Edith dies, and Edward plans to find out the secret, no matter what.

Edward questions the other family members, suspecting that one of them must know the secret. Quentin tells Rachel that no one goes in the tower room; later she sees a light coming from it. Judith and Edward discuss a problem in the tower room. Later Edward proves there is not light in the tower room to Rachel.

Edward questions Barnabas about the secret, he denies having learned it from Edith. Quentin plans to make sure that he gets something in Edith’s will even if he has to have it changed. Quentin finds out from Magda that the will is hidden in Edith’s coffin. Quentin sends Jamison to steal Edith’s will. Barnabas tells Quentin he knows he has the will.

Barnabas encourages Quentin to return the will. Barnabas is surprised that Rachel resembles Josette Collins. Judith is convinced Edith’s spirit is trying to find the will. Quentin finds his room mysteriously ransacked then hears the sound of a beating heart.

Quentin is tormented by the ghost of Edith; she warns him to return the will. Evan and Quentin plan to summon a spirit to help keep Barnabas from interfering with their plans. Evan gets Sandor to forge a new will. Quentin and Evan use Jamison during a ceremony; a skull appears in the flames.

Angelique appears following the ceremony; she agrees to help stop Barnabas. Barnabas gives Rachel Josette’s music box. Angelique causes Rachel to choke.

Dirk walks in on Angelique’s while practicing witchcraft, she is distracted and Rachel recovers. Angelique puts a spell on Rachel and tells her she is going to be a pawn in her game, later Barnabas finds Rachel lying in his coffin.

Barnabas sends Magda to Collinwood to help Judith find the will. Beth warns Rachel not to ask questions about Edward’s wife. Barnabas gives Rachel a medallion to protect her against Angelique. Judith finds the will and learns that she will be in control of Collinwood. Beth brings a doll to the tower room to someone named Jenny.

Judith gloats to Carl, Edward, and Quentin as she reads the will that leaves all the money to her. Rachel sees Beth leaving the tower room.

Rachel is unable to get into the tower room, she visits Magda who tells her about a key that can open the door. Someone escapes from the tower room and sets Edward’s room on fire. Edward and Beth take the person back to the tower. Rachel confronts Beth about the person in the tower room, she denies that anyone is there. After encouragement from Magda and with key in hand, Rachel unlocks the door to the tower room.

Rachel is knocked unconscious by Jenny then locks her in the tower room. Dirk finds Nora outside Collinwood, who later claims she is waiting for her mother to return. Jenny starts wandering around the house. Dirk rescues Rachel from the tower room. Rachel tells Judith what has happened, denying that anyone was in the tower room. Judith finds Jenny who now has a sharp pair of scissors.

Beth saves Judith from Jenny who is apparently insane. Rachel tells Barnabas all that has happened to her, he goes to the tower room to investigate. Barnabas searches the tower room and finds nothing; later the door opens while he searches.

Angelique appears to Barnabas and wants him to be her loyal husband again; she warns him that someone will try to destroy him in his coffin. Quentin sends David to steal Barnabas’ cane, which he later uses to practice voodoo. Barnabas starts to feel pain; Magda realizes what Quentin is doing and stops him. Magda is frightened and claims that Quentin has the mark of death and will die soon.

Magda tells Quentin that a woman is going to kill him with a knife. Judith has moved Jenny to the basement. Jenny becomes extremely disturbed when she hears Quentin’s music playing; Judith makes him turn it off. Judith pays Dirk to help keep Jenny under control. Quentin suspects that Judith will try to kill him, he confronts her. Jenny escapes and searches for Quentin with a knife in hand.

Quentin warns Barnabas to not get any ideas about killing him; Barnabas warns Quentin not to trust Angelique. Quentin is surprised to see Jenny, his wife. Dirk finds Quentin stabbed to death; later Barnabas finds Dirk standing over Quentin’s body.

Barnabas finds out from Dirk that Jenny is Quentin’s wife and that she has been locked in the tower room. Jenny tells Beth that she killed Quentin. Barnabas asks Angelique to save Quentin as he was not supposed to die this way. Angelique plans to raise Quentin, but will use him to make Barnabas suffer.

Jamison is upset after finding out about Quentin’s death; he later claims that Quentin is not dead. Carl finds that Quentin’s spirit has taken possession of Jamison. Rachel awakes after a strange dream only to find Quentin (a Zombie) sitting in a rocking chair in her room.

Quentin continues to wander around the house as a Zombie. Barnabas burns some special incense, which leads Quentin back to is coffin. Quentin is buried and cement is poured over his coffin to keep him from rising again. Rachel tells Barnabas that she is going to leave Collinwood. Later Quentin returns to Collinwood and kidnaps Rachel.

Quentin puts Rachel in his coffin. Sandor finds Rachel and saves her, however he is attacked by Quentin. When Barnabas rises at dusk he finds Quentin siting in a chair near his coffin. Barnabas performs a ritual to return Quentin’s spirit to his body, however it fails.

At Edward’s request Reverend Gregory Trask shows up to take Nora and Jamison to his boarding school, Worthington Hall. Trask finds that Jamison is possessed, and performs a ceremony on Jamison and Quentin’s body.

After Trask finishes his ceremony, Quentin and Jamison return to normal. Trask tries to intimidate Jamison into agreeing to go to Worthington Hall. Quentin threatens Judith to let him know where Jenny is at, as he plans to kill her. Jamison runs away from Collinwood.

Charity Trask (Gregory Trask’s daughter) shows up at Collinwood, Rachel is very upset by her presence. Rachel tells Barnabas that she used to live and work at Worthington Hall and was intimidated and blackmailed into staying there. Later Trask accuses Rachel of stealing and warns her to comeback with him. Barnabas bites Charity Trask.

Quentin asks Edward where Jenny is, however he refuses to tell. Quentin discusses Laura Collins (Edward’s wife) who apparently left Collinsport with him a year earlier. Nora draws a picture in Egyptian hieroglyphics that say her mother is coming home; later she sees her mother in the flames of the fireplace.

Nora sees a fire in the hallway, however it is gone when she returns with her father and Beth. Quentin finds that Beth is taking a large sum of money into Collinsport. Nora dreams that her mother comes back to Collinwood, but her father sends her away. Nora leaves the house to find her mother.

Laura promises Nora that they will be together. Nora tells Jamison that their mother has returned. Laura returns asking for Edward to take her back, he tries to pay her to leave. Quentin claims to have seen Laura die.

Quentin says he saw Laura burn to death in Alexandria. After Laura threatens to cause a scandal Edward agrees to allow Laura to move into Collinwood. Edward arranges to have the children sent to Worthington Hall. Timothy Shaw comes to Collinwood to pickup the children, he tells Rachel that he had been accused of murdering Trask’s brother-in-law and had to go back to work at the school. Quentin tries to kill Laura.

Quentin starts to feels burning pain through out his body (stopping him from strangling Laura). Laura recounts how Quentin betrayed her in Alexandria and was burned. Angelique agrees to save Quentin if Barnabas will resume their marriage. Barnabas introduces Angelique as his fiancé, which surprises and upsets Rachel. Angelique tells Quentin that a special urn holds the key to destroying Laura.

Laura catches Quentin searching her room, later he gets Magda to search for the urn. Minerva Trask shows up to take Rachel back to Worthington Hall; she accuses her of accessory to the murder of her brother. Minerva threatens to go to the police if Rachel does not go back with her. Rachel is further upset when she finds that Tim Shaw is planning to marry Charity Trask. Magda helps Rachel by hiding her in the Collins mausoleum.

Trask sends Tim to help find Rachel and bring her back to Worthington Hall. Trask punishes Jamison for eavesdropping by locking him in a closet. Jamison finds a key in the closet and leaves only to instantly be caught by Trask who threatens a stronger punishment. Tim brings money for Rachel to escape, however Trask has followed him.

Trask gives Rachel the choice: go back to Worthington Hall or face a murder charge. Laura communicates with Nora through the flames in the fireplace. Laura shows up at Worthington Hall to get Nora and Jamison; Trask refuses to let the children go with her. Shortly after Laura leaves the school catches on fire.

Quentin attempts to destroy Laura by pouring sand into an urn containing her supernatural power.

In an attempt to save herself from destruction, Laura prays to Ra to take possession of Dirk.

Laura tells Jamison that Quentin is trying to kill her. Barnabas is shocked at the sight of Laura.

Barnabas and Charity find a portrait of Jeremiah Collins' first wife, who looks exactly like Laura Collins.

Barnabas sends Sandor to find Laura's grave. Edward tells Barnabas what he knows of Laura's history.

Laura confesses that she has returned to Collinwood to take custody of her children Jamison and Nora.

Barnabas uses an incantation from the Egyptian Book of the Dead to conjure up the spirit of Laura.

Quentin and Barnabas decide to try to destroy Laura. Jenny is ordered by Laura to kill Quentin.

Jenny meets Barnabas at the Old House and Quentin takes a pistol to search for her.

Jenny's sister Magda is shocked to discover that Jenny has been locked away at Collinwood.

Magda threatens to curse Quentin. Jenny tells Judith that she saw Barnabas in a coffin.

Jenny prepares to kill Quentin and Beth after overhearing them declare their love for each other.

After Quentin accidentally kills Jenny, Magda informs him that he will be cursed for the rest of his life.

Magda describes the history of the curse to Quentin and tells him that it will begin that night.

At sunset, Magda recites an incantation and Quentin is struck by pain as the full Moon rises.

Dorcas Trilling, a teacher at Trask's school, Worthington Hall, is brutally murdered.

Evan Hanley believes the pentagram may Quentin keep quiet and safe from the curse.

Beth steps into the pentagram to protect her from the werewolf. Jamison escapes from school.

Jamison visits Laura, who plans to leave town. She vows revenge after Barnabas takes Jamison from her.

In the grave of Ben Stokes, Dirk finds the diary which Laura believes contains the secret of Barnabas.

After dark locates Barnabas' coffin and Laura realizes he is a vampire and prepares to destroy him.

Angelique attempts to thwart Laura's. A ceremony is held to take laura's life force from her.

Laura calls upon the sun god Ra to help her eliminate Angelique with fire.

Laura gives Dirk a letter to Judith revealing the truth about Barnabas, who later attacks Dirk.

From within a circle of flames, Laura summons her children to join her.

After Quentin pleads to him to help end the curse, Evan conducts a ceremony to raise the devil.

Quentin and Evan grow suspicious of Trask's involvement with Judith and other women.

Beth reveals to Magda that Jenny had twins. Evan puts the spell on Tim to poison a drink.

Barnabas' suspects the Beth has ordered a pentagram to protect Jenny's infant twins.

Beth tells Barnabas about Quentin's curse. Magda shoots the werewolf with silver bullets.

Magda tells Barnabas of an old woman whose daughter may be able to lift the curse from Quentin.

A puzzled Jamison tells Barnabas of his dream about Quentin and David Collins.

Barnabas orders Beth to guard him during the day when he lies vulnerable in his coffin.

Dirk reveals Barnabas' secret to Jamison. After Jamison discovers his coffin, Barnabas attacks Dirk.

Edward investigates Jamison's story about a coffin in the basement of the old house.

Pansy Faye, a mentalist friend of Carl's, attempts to locate the missing Dirk.

Minerva tells Charity she should marry Carl. At Evan's prompting, Tim poisons Minerva.

Rachel suggests a hiding place for 2:00 AM, where he sees a mysterious coffin.

Judith offers her condolences to Trask. Dirk attacks Tim, Judith and Rachel.

Turk tells Barnabas he must bring Laura back to life. Dirk forces Judith to shoot Rachel.

Edward follows Judith to the abandoned cellar and discovers that Dirk's coffin is hidden there.

Gregory Trask is forced to absolve Tim of guilt for Minerva's murder. Carl hears Pansy's voice in the graveyard.

Magda returns with a mysterious box containing the hand of Count Petofi, which she says has magical powers.

Quentin locks Carl in the secret room of the Collins mausoleum, where Barnabas' coffin is located.

Barnabas suspects that Carl has revealed his secret. Trask accuses Barnabas of murder.

Barnabas finds his coffin chained and protected by a cross. He commands Charity to hide him in the school.

Trask tries to use Charity to trap Barnabas period as Barnabas is about to bite Charity, Nora appears.

The hand of Count Petofi is used to perform the procedure on charity. Evan Hanley confronts Barnabas.

In an attempt to take control of the Collins family and wealth, Trask persuades Judith to marry him.

Edward is horrified that Judith has altered her will. Magda uses Petofi's hand hoping to cure Quentin.

Charity dreams of a romantic interlude with Quentin while his music plays in the background.

Evans steals the hand of Count Petofi. Barnabas makes an attempt to free the werewolf.

Judith has nightmares and visits the grave of Minerva. She begins to believe that she is Minerva.

Trask in Evan conjure up the spirit of Minerva to frighten and threaten Judith.

After a jail guard is attacked, Quentin escapes. He and Judith encounter the ghost of Minerva.

Evan and Trask try to convince Judith to sign a paper committing her to a sanitarium.

Quentin and Magda summon Angelique to help them recover the missing hand of Count Petofi.

Victor Fenn-Gibbon observes as Angelique conducts a ceremony using the hand to help Quentin.

The gypsy named Julianka tells Barnabas she has come to end the curse in return for the hand.

Aristede sets in motion a curved blade which will kill Quentin unless Aristede can get Petofi's hand.

In the woods, Julianka the gypsy is found dead with a strange mark on her forehead.

The spirit of Julianka appears but refuses to help and lays a curse on Magda for stealing the hand.

Following Sandor's death, Magda learns that Quentin's son has also died.

Petofi's hand reappears to Magda. Aristede enlists Tim Shaw's help in regaining the hand.

Victor explains that he once owned the hand of Petofi. Magda soon realizes that he is Count Petofi.

After Petofi leaves Collinwood, it is discovered that Jamison Collins has been possessed by him.

Beth Chavez appears to be under the influence of Barnabas, but he denies calling her.

Charles Delaware Tate arrives to paint Quentin's portrait. Charity thinks she is Pansy Faye.

Trask is tricked into signing a confession that he killed his wife Minerva.

As Charity look at Quentin's portrait, its features change to look like those of a wolf.

Aristede reveals that Tate's artistic talents were a special gift from Petofi.

Jamison finds the book of the Collins family history and asks Magda how Barnabas travelled through time.

A woman attacked by the werewolf dies. Charity accuses Quentin of being the murderer.

Aristede's medallion fails to cure Quentin's daughter Lenore. Magda summons a spirit to help.

At Trask's suggestion, the possessed Edward begins to strangle Quentin.

Tim returns to town with Amanda Harris, along with a box containing the hand of Count Petofi.

Jamison, desperate to find the hand, forces the truth from Nora, who has hidden it for Tim.

Barnabas brings the hands to Aristide. Petofi soon recovers and his hand is reattached.

Petofi says he will cure Jamison if Barnabas will reveal the secret of his travel through time.

Petofi causes Jamison to become possessed by the spirit of David Collins.

Quentin and Beth try to free Barnabas but are unable to overcome Count Petofi's powers.

Tate has finished the portrait of Quentin and realizes that Quentin is the werewolf.

Charity sees a vision which alarms Petofi. He causes her to believe she is Pansy Faye.

The gypsy king, Johnny Romano, arrives looking for the hand of Petofi.

Keane Johnny takes Magda to the gypsy camp and accuses her of counterfeiting the hand.

Tate sees the brooch Amanda is wearing and recognizes her as the woman he painted.

Charity drugs Beth to prevent her from going to the gypsies.

Quentin releases Barnabas and Istvan the gypsy seizes Magda.

Magda stands trial in the Collins Mausoleum. Istvan indicates the death sentence.

King Johnny binds Petofi and prepares to cut off his hand.

Angelique agrees to try and end Petofi's spell.

Charity has a vision of Quentin dead in the tower room.

Armed with a gun containing silver bullets, Trask waits for the werewolf to emerge.

Trask is the intended victim of Angelique's spell. Petofi arrives with a mysterious portrait.

Quentin does not change when the full moon rises, but discovers his portrait has changed instead.

Tate is shocked when he sees his portrait of Quentin now depicts the image of the wolf.

Barnabas sends Magda to warn Quentin. Petofi offers to help Edward find Barnabas.

Edward imprisons Barnabas, but cannot bring himself to shoot the vampire.

In 1969, the ghost of Beth explains to Julia how Quentin originally died in 1897.

Using I Ching wands, Julia is transported back to 1897.

Petofi prevents Beth from shooting Quentin, but Quentin must pay a price for his help.

Julia agrees to stay in 1897 and try to cure Barnabas of his vampirism.

Petofi forces Julia to tell him about I Ching. He uses them and goes into a trance.

Barnabas learns were Julia is being held captive. Aristede tricks him into shooting her.

Angelique agrees to help Barnabas defeat Petofi.

Tate tells Tim of creating a man by drawing him and timid kidnaps the creation.

Lady Kitty Soames arrives to visit Edward. Barnabas recognizes her as the image of Josette.

Charity follow Quentin into a cave and discovers a coffin with Barnabas inside.

Edward orders Barnabas' is coffin be chained and the cave be sealed.

Quentin asks Amanda to marry him and leave Collinsport immediately.

Tate learns that Amanda and Quentin love each other. He steals Quentin's portrait.

Petofi discovers he must have a body to inhabit if he is to reach the future.

Quentin is delayed leaving with Amanda when he learns his portrait is missing.

Angelique threatens Quentin unless he agrees to return to Collinwood with her.

Kitty dreams of Angelika bringing gifts from a suitor, and finds them at her bed when she awakens.

Kitty seems to become Josette. Petofi gives Quentin a ring with special powers.

Petofi demonstrates his powers by blinding Quentin and then curing him.

Quentin plays the piano for Charity, but then tells her he could never play the piano.

Petofi's mind has taken over Quentin's body so that Petofi can have a body to inhabit in 1969.

Aristede finds a woman, Wanda Paisley, on whom Petofi may test the I Ching wands.

In 1897, Julia hears voices from the present. Angelique is puzzled by Quentin's behavior.

In Petofi's body, Quentin orders Kitty to steal Quentin's portrait. Quentin's wedding is set.

Angelique decides her marriage must be postponed. In a seance, charity calls upon a spirit to appear.

Judith returns to Collinwood from the sanitarium. Dressed as Josette, Kitty visits Jeremiah Collins' grave.

Quentin convinces Evan that his mind is in Petofi's body. They pretend to hold a ceremony.

Petofi forces Evan to dig a grave. Gregory Trask learns that Judith is back and making new plans.

Angelique visits a mysterious cave. Charity tells Angelique that Quentin is not who he appears to be.

Quentin, whose mind remains in Petofi's body, explains the mind switch to Angelique.

Kitty writes a letter, dating it 1796. She is entranced by the portrait of Josette at the Old House.

A desperate Angelique tries to convince Aristede to save her.

Barnabas reappears that Collinwood, claiming to be a relative from England.

Barnabas' coffin is set afire. Trask later confronts Barnabas with a cross.

Kitty accepts Edwards' marriage proposal, but later goes to Barnabas.

Petofi, in Quentin's body, watches Charles Delaware Tate use the I Ching wands in a ceremony.

Petofi enters the I Ching trance and moves through the door to the Collinwood of the present.

Petofi demands that Barnabas return the portrait of Quentin. Kitty realizes she is Josette.

Kitty is terrified of what will happen if she becomes Josette. Beth discovers the mind switch.

Using Petofi's Power, Quentin attempts to reverse the mind switch.

Quentin, whom Aristede believes is Petofi, orders Aristede to stab Petofi, whom Aristede believes is Quentin.

Petofi recalls Aristede being pursued by Garth Blackwood, a sadistic prison master from England.

Trask asks Evan's help in influencing Judith. Blackwood's spirit seeks revenge on Aristede.

Judith orders Tim Shaw to brick up Trask inside Quentin's room.

Trask calls Judith on Quentin's telephone and begs for mercy. Blackwood locates Aristede.

Quentin is determined to leave Collinwood and tries to stay awake to keep Petofi from again possessing him.

Barnabas asks Angelique to help Quentin. Charity attempts to steal Petofi's glasses.

Petofi holds Charity captive and sends Charles to tell Quentin that if he doesn't come to the cottage in half an hour, Charity will die. Charles goes to Collinwood and finds Barnabas instead. He tells Charles that Quentin has already left Collinsport. Reluctantly, Charles agrees to take Barnabas to Petofi instead. Barnabas arrives at Petofi's cottage. Petofi is angered at getting Barnabas instead, but soon realizes that he can take his body into the future instead of Quentin's. Especially since the Collins family of 1969 will greet him with open arms. Petofi causes Barnabas to lose consciousness and lays him on the couch. He then sits down and goes into a trance to take over Barnabas's body. But as he falls into his trance, Garth Blackwood, fully recovered from his wound, enters the cottage and chains Petofi's hands together so that he can't use his powers. He slaps Petofi with his gloves, causing him to wake up. Petofi tries to attack Blackwood, but finds that he can't. Ba

Barnabas searches around the rubble of the burned down studio to look for clues of Petofi's death. He finds Petofi's golden pocket watch laying on the floor. Soon after, he finds Blackwood's black chain. Then after going outside, he finds Petofi's glases. Charles Tate comes in and is angered to see his studio burned down. He sees Barnabas and accuses him of destroying it. Barnabas tells him about the struggle between Petofi and Blackwood. He also tells him that the portrait of Quentin burned down as well. Charles admits to Barnabas that he stole the portrait because he believed it would help him against Quentin. Barnabas begs him to paint another portrait so that Quentin will not be threatened by the werewolf curse. Charles tells Barnabas that he will. Meanwhile, Kitty is still tormented by the mind of Josette. She tells Judith that she's leaving Collinwood so that she won't burden them any longer. Judith tries to convince her to stay, especially since Edward wants to marry Kitty
