River City (2002)
River City is a television soap opera, first broadcast in Scotland on BBC Scotland on 24 September 2002. River City storylines examine the domestic and professional lives of the people who live and work in the fictional district of Shieldinch in Glasgow. The series primarily centres around the residents of Shieldinch, their houses, flats and apartments and its neighbouring streets, namely Montego Street and which encompasses a pub, bistro, community centre, café and various small businesses, in addition to a subway station and basketball court. The series was originally screened as two half-hour episodes per week. Today, one hour-long episode is broadcast each week - usually Tuesday evenings on BBC One Scotland, repeated Sunday afternoons on either BBC One Scotland or BBC Two Scotland. In Australia, River City is screened 11:00am weekdays on Seven's British-oriented multichannel 7TWO.

Angus wakes from a drug-induced sleep to learn that Kirsty is fighting for her life in hospital. When he realises he's the architect of her downfall, he's riddled with guilt but with a distraught Finn in the frame it looks like he might get away with it. Will finds himself at odds with DI Donald and Robbie as he fights to prove Finn's innocence. And Alan makes a difficult call to his estranged wife about their daughter's condition.

Kirsty is happy to be home from hospital in time for Christmas, but with all the recent drama, Alan hasn't had time to prepare so there's not a bauble or a piece of tinsel in sight. Kirsty's even more disappointed when she learns that her brother Angus has moved out to escape the wrath of their father over the drugs Kirsty took. Can Alan find it in his heart to give his daughter the Christmas she needs? Angus has a tough decision to make when the police come knocking, while Robbie and Will worry about Finn's suspicious behaviour.

As the top brass push for Frank Paton's release, Donald finds himself frustrated by his own reputation. Stevie reacts badly to the news that Paton may not face charges, while Eileen and Liz look for a new carer for Malcolm.
