Even after a night's sleep, Reverend James is thoroughly depressed at the sight of the wreckage. Effie is worried as to where Albert has been all night. Audrey and Dickie tell her he stayed with them and he'll agree to come back if she takes over the cooking. Effie tells them she's prepared for battle. Annie confronts Lucille about Dave bringing her back at 11.00pm last night. Annie doesn't believe she was working late and Jack agrees to sort Dave out. Len tells Alice that Albert is back from Bury. Annie warns Dave that a scandal could put punters off his establishment.

An upset Ena can't bear to watch Lucille be led astray and urges Elsie to intervene. She assures her that Dave is playing Lucille along. Ena thinks he won't be able to help himself and he's practicing a double deception. Lucille shows off a new gold bracelet and lets people assume it was a gift from Dave. Audrey tells Ena about the gift.

The blackout continues. Elsie desperately knocks on the wall with No.9, unaware that Len is in the Rovers. Minnie and Ray go to help Reverend James with Alice. Jack gives Len a drink after hours, delaying his return. When he finally gets home, a terrified Elsie calls out for his help. She thinks her stalker has cut the lights out on her and Len has to explain what's happened. The power is restored as Len calms her down. Ken and Val take a sobbing Alice and her belongings in. They think Albert is callous. Gordon thinks the neighbours are prejudiced against him because of Lucille. Len catches Arthur Green taking notes in the street and discovers that both he knows his name and that he's a private investigator.

It's Easter Monday. Elsie tries to contact Dave who is on a business trip to Doncaster. Ray sees that she seems down. Hilda wants to do something as it's a Bank Holiday and suggests a walk in the Peak District followed by a cream tea. Stan reluctantly agrees. Alerted by Ray, Len calls on Elsie and finds her in a foul mood. Ena, Minnie and Alice buy food in for an Easter tea, avoiding Maggie's questions about joining Albert's coach trip to Bury's Fusiliers' Museum. He can't locate anyone who had bought tickets. Dave returns and goes straight to the bookies where Ted tells him that Elsie has rung him several times. Lucille agrees to go out with Ray for the day. Dave receives a letter which troubles him and tells Ted that he's off out again. Stan and Hilda brave the Rovers in their walking gear before setting out. Ena reveals to Annie that every one of the pensioners are boycotting the trip due to Albert's behaviour towards Alice. Puzzled, he waits alone with the coach driver.

A tired and worn out Stan and Hilda return on a milk float. Len and Ray are amused when it almost droves off with a sleeping Hilda on the back. The pensioners decide to meet in the Rovers to decide on their form of protest. Alice declares that she's forgiven Albert. A saddened Maggie tells Len that Gordon's decided to work at the head office in London. Len tells her to call on him if she's lonely. An angry Elsie catches up with Dave at the bookies and tears into him for not telling her that he's married. He tells her Lillian's coming up from London. Neither of them knows why she rang Elsie. Bathing her tired feet, Hilda is annoyed when Annie gives her work for the day to Alice. Ena, Minnie and Alice form their OAP action committee and invite Albert to join them. Len tells Elsie about Arthur Green and she realises he was employed by Lillian. The lady herself arrives at the betting shop and greets her husband.

The pensioners meet in the OAP Clubhouse to plan their march and a petition. Albert favours more direct action. Dickie and Audrey call in, worrying about Minnie taking part. Len tells Elsie he believes her when she says there was nothing going on between Dave and her. Stan and Hilda ask Ken's advice about the tax demand. Ken is appalled at the size of their problem, even though it's just an assessment. He tells Stan that he can appeal against it and the Inland Revenue will probably reduce the sum claimed. Stan doesn't want Ken seeing his financial affairs and spurns his further help.

The OAPs meet in the OAP clubhouse to discuss next steps and Ena insists they're going to have a sit-in to stop the bulldozers doing their job. Minnie grows fearful. Ray enjoys winding up Dave about how much the divorce is going to cost him. Dickie and Audrey collect supplies for the pensioners' sit-in from the Rovers, though Annie thinks Ena has lost her reason. She sees Lillian in the public and tries to find out who she is before Dave fetches her back to the bookies to discuss business. The pensioners start to prepare to bed down for the night. Ena prevents Ray from collecting a washbasin he's already been given some money for. A bulldozer arrives to begin work.

Ray calls to offer to contribute to their "fighting fund" in return for the washbasin. Ena refuses. Reggie James has asked Emily to get the pensioners to the vicarage so he can mediate. She gets bottles from the Rovers to entice them out. Lillian calls into the Rovers and offers to pay Hilda for information about Elsie. They agree to meet at No.13 later. Annie is appalled that Hilda would stoop so low. Elsie needs to speak to Len but Ray tells her that he's gone on holiday. Elsie is livid with Dave when he refuses to contest the divorce, even though it would result with her name being in the papers.

She’s proven wrong when Hilda bursts in to see her. Audrey and Lucille go on a shopping spree. Edith doesn’t take to Hilda and is grateful when Elsie, also calling in, gets rid of her by telling her that she’s just spotted Stan talking to his fancy piece from Inkerman Street. However, Elsie makes herself equally at home, annoying Edith all over again. Ray tells Ena and Maggie that his plan about Annie is gathering pace. At the yard, Ray meets old friend Connie Robinson.
